GIA launches four new professional courses in India

As part of its mission to bring the most up-to-date, relevant information to the gem and jewellery trade, G1A (Gemological Institute of America) announced four new education courses during the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) 2012. “G1A continuously works toward offering programmes that cater to the specific business needs of retailers and manufacturers,” said Nirupa Bhatt, managing director of G1A in India and the Middle East. “After researching the market, we have identified areas where our expertise willhelp benefit the demand for skilled gem and jewellery employees.”

The new courses are: Accelerated Diamond Graduate (AGD), Merchandising Programme, Sales Excellence Programme and Swift Designing Programme:-

• AG D is a self-study six-month diamond grading course for working professionals at their own convenience.

• The Merchandising Programme provides practical knowledge and insight into the world of product and visual merchandising for jewellery retail.

• The comprehensive two-day Sales Excellence Programme offers retail jewellers the tools and confidence to accurately and effectively translate the G1A-created 4Cs of diamond quality and the International Diamond Grading Systems .’” to customers across the counter.

• The five-day Swift Designing Programme introduces students to design fundamentals and basic counter sketching of rings, earrings and more.
